Service trucks aren’t just vehicles — they’re moving inventory. Every bundle of shingles, tube of caulk, and piece of flashing on a truck represents real material cost, and InventoryHQ makes sure none of it goes untracked. By treating each truck as a mobile warehouse, you get live stock counts, full transfer history, and automatic job costing tied directly to field activity.

Why trucks are tracked as mobile warehouses

When your crew pulls material off a truck on the job site, that transaction needs to count — against the truck’s inventory, against the job’s cost, and eventually against your margin. Without that connection, you’re reconciling spreadsheets after the fact and guessing at what actually happened. InventoryHQ closes that loop in real time, so your numbers are always current whether a truck is in the yard or across town.

Three key workflows

Every service truck workflow in InventoryHQ follows the same core pattern: stock the truck, track every transfer, and cost jobs from the field.

Stocking a Truck

Add a truck to your account, load it with materials and equipment from your warehouse, and set reorder thresholds so you never run short.

Tracking Transfers

Record every material movement — warehouse to truck, truck to job, or back again — with a clear history of who moved what and when.

Logging Material Usage

When your tech uses materials on site, log them against the job directly. Truck inventory updates instantly and the cost flows to your job report.

What you can see at a glance

Once a truck is active in InventoryHQ, your dashboard shows you live stock counts for every vehicle. Low-inventory alerts surface before a crew drives to a job short on materials. Usage history lets you spot patterns — which trucks burn through material fastest, which jobs run over estimates, and where restocking runs can be consolidated.
Use reorder thresholds on high-turn items like ridge cap, ice-and-water shield, and fasteners. InventoryHQ flags those items as soon as a truck dips below your set quantity, giving you time to restock before the next job.

Add-on pricing

Service truck tracking is available as a paid add-on at $19 per truck per month. Each truck you add to your account gets its own inventory ledger, transfer history, and job costing tie-ins. You can add or remove trucks at any time from your account settings.
Each service truck you add to your account is billed as a separate add-on at $19/mo. You can add or remove trucks at any time from Settings → Billing & Plans without affecting your core subscription.
