Assign Material to a Job for Planning - InventoryHQ

Assign Material lets you earmark materials to a job before they are physically pulled. Think of it as a planning list, similar to a job template applied to one specific job. This page explains how to use it and why it does not change your stock levels.

What Assign Material does

Assigned materials appear in the Assigned Materials section of a job. They can be selected during Pull Material to pre-fill the pull lines, saving time in the field.

IMPORTANT: Assign Material carries no quantities and moves no inventory. Nothing is deducted from any location until you run Pull Material. If you assign material and stop there, your stock levels and job costs will not reflect it.

How Assign Material differs from Pull Material

When to use it

Use Assign Material when you want to prepare a material list ahead of time, for example during office planning before the crew heads to the site. When the crew is ready to load out, open Pull Material and select the assigned materials to convert the plan into actual stock movement.
