# Reporting, Analytics, and Profit Tools | InventoryHQ

> Explore every report in InventoryHQ — job costing breakdowns, user activity, material lists, inventory trends, and the Profit Recovery Calculator.

Most roofing contractors don't lose money all at once — it leaks out slowly through commission overpayments, material shrinkage, missing equipment, and jobs that cost more than anyone tracked. InventoryHQ's reporting tools are designed to surface those leaks before they become losses. Every report is built around the data your team is already generating as they work — so you're not creating extra work, you're getting more value from the work you're already doing.

## Accessing Reports

Reports are available to all users with the **Manager** role. To access them, select **Reports** from the main navigation. The reports page lists all available reports along with quick-access links to the most commonly used views.

<Note>
  Field workers do not have access to the Reports section. If a team member needs reporting access, update their role to Manager in [User Permissions](/settings/user-permissions).

## Available Reports

### Job Costing Breakdown

The Job Costing Breakdown report shows you exactly what each job cost to complete — broken down by materials used, unit costs, and gross margin. This report answers the question your estimators need answered: did this job come in at or under budget?

Key data in this report:

* **Materials used per job** — every item pulled from inventory for that job, with quantities and unit costs
* **Total material cost** — the sum of all materials used
* **Labor cost** (where logged) — field hours attributed to the job
* **Gross margin** — revenue minus costs, calculated per job
* **Date range filters** — review costing by week, month, quarter, or custom period

Export this report as a CSV to import into your accounting software, or as a PDF for job review meetings. See [Data Export](/integrations/data-export) for step-by-step instructions.

### User Activity Report

The User Activity Report gives you a full log of every action taken by every user in your account — who logged materials, who checked out equipment, who updated a job status, and when. It's your accountability layer.

Use this report to:

* Verify that field workers are logging material usage accurately
* Investigate discrepancies between what was pulled from inventory and what appears on a job record
* Review activity during a specific date range for performance or HR purposes

### Material List

The Material List report gives you a complete snapshot of all materials in your inventory — quantities on hand, location, and usage history. It's useful for:

* Conducting physical stock counts and reconciliation
* Planning procurement before upcoming jobs
* Sharing current stock levels with suppliers or project managers

The Material List can be exported as a CSV for integration with procurement workflows or as a formatted PDF for printed use.

### Inventory Trends Dashboard

The Inventory Trends section of your dashboard shows you how your inventory levels change over time. Rather than a point-in-time snapshot, trends give you a picture of consumption patterns across weeks and months.

From the dashboard, you can see:

* Which materials are being consumed fastest
* Which items are accumulating without being used (tying up capital)
* How usage spikes around busy seasons or large project phases

## Profit Recovery Calculator

The Profit Recovery Calculator is a standalone tool available at [inventory-hq.com/calculator](https://inventory-hq.com/calculator). It estimates how much revenue your business is likely losing to the most common margin-killers in roofing and trades contracting.

<Tip>
  Run the Profit Recovery Calculator before your next budget review. It takes about two minutes and typically reveals more lost margin than most contractors expect. Visit [inventory-hq.com/calculator](https://inventory-hq.com/calculator) to get your estimate.
