# Close a Job with Ready to Audit

> Learn how to close a job in Inventory HQ using Ready to Audit, route it to an auditor, and finalise costs for reporting and CRM write-back.

Closing a job in Inventory HQ means marking it Ready to Audit so an assigned auditor can verify the recorded material movements against the physical count. Once approved, the job is completed and its costs are final. This page shows you the exact steps and what happens next.

## Before you close

Confirm the following before clicking Ready to Audit:

* All pulls and returns are recorded.
* Any partial materials have been restocked as new items.
* The job cost reflects the actual materials used.

## How to close a job

<Steps>
  <Step title="Review all material movements">
    Open the job detail page and check that every pull, return, and partial restock is recorded correctly.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Click Ready to Audit">
    Click **Ready to Audit** on the job. This routes the job to the assigned auditor for that location.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Wait for auditor review">
    The auditor receives a Ready for Audit notification and reviews the recorded quantities against the physical count.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Approve or reject">
    On approval the job is completed and its costs are final. On rejection it returns for correction.
  </Step>
</Steps>

## What happens after approval

Once the job is approved:

* Its costs are locked and become available in [Reports](/reports/overview).
* Where a CRM is connected, the material cost writes back to the CRM financial field. See [CRM Integrations](/integrations/crm-integrations).
* The job moves from Active Jobs to Completed Jobs on the Jobs page.

## Physical audits and negative balances

If a job or location shows negative stock, that is an intentional flag that the physical count and the system were out of sync. The auditor should work the negatives first during review, since they represent movements the system already knows it missed. For more on running audits and cycle counts, see [Physical Audits](/settings/physical-audits).
