# Quick-Start Setup Guide for Inventory HQ

> Complete these nine steps in order to set up your company profile, roles, locations, inventory, and jobs before using the mobile app.

Complete these nine steps in order before creating jobs or using the mobile app. Skipping ahead, for example adding users before roles exist, means going back to re-configure.

  <Step title="Complete your company profile">
    Open **Settings** and fill in your company details so the account is ready for use. Your bulk import templates are generated from this information, so complete it before importing anything.

  <Step title="Set up roles and permissions">
    Go to **Users > Roles & Permissions** and create the roles your business needs, for example Company Admin, Production Manager, Warehouse Manager, or Field Tech. For each role, decide whether its permissions are standard (scoped to the user’s assigned locations) or admin-level (company-wide). See [User Permissions](/settings/user-permissions) for details.

  <Step title="Add your team members">
    Go to **Users** and click **Add User**. Enter their details, assign the role you created in step 2, and assign at least one warehouse or service truck. A user only sees the locations assigned to them.

  <Step title="Create your warehouses and service trucks">
    Set up the physical locations where materials and equipment are stored. Service trucks are added the same way and behave as mobile warehouses. Establishing locations before stocking anything keeps every number tied to a real place. See [Locations](/settings/locations) and [Service Trucks](/service-trucks/overview) for full details.

  <Step title="Set up units and categories">
    Confirm your measurement units are active and create your categories now. Both appear as dropdowns when you add materials, and both are pulled into your bulk import template. Adding them later means re-downloading templates.

  <Step title="Add inventory and equipment">
    Load your consumable materials and your trackable equipment. Set a Minimum Stock Alert on every material as you go, since that value drives every low stock alert in the platform. SKUs are mandatory on bulk import and must be unique. This is what lets the system track the same item across multiple warehouses without creating duplicates.

  <Step title="Build your job templates (Optional)">
    If you run the same job types repeatedly, build the material lists once as templates. This is optional but saves substantial time later.

  <Step title="Connect your CRM (Optional)">
    If you use Leap / JobProgress or JobNimbus, connect it now so jobs sync in automatically instead of being entered by hand. See [CRM Integrations](/integrations/crm-integrations) for details.

  <Step title="Start creating jobs">
    With roles, users, locations, units, categories, and inventory in place, your foundation is complete. You can create jobs, pull materials, assign equipment, and use the mobile app in the field.
